Michigan Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow will not seek reelection in 2024, she said Thursday morning.

Her decision will open up a Senate seat in a battleground state as well as a vacancy in Democratic leadership. Stabenow said that “inspired by a new generation of leaders, I have decided to pass the torch in the U.S. Senate” after serving out the rest of her term.
